for a daughter on the brink of romance
Dear Daughter,
Before you are swept off your feet, before your heart races at his approach, before a hand slips around your own, you need something. You need this imprinted on your heart:
Are you convinced yet, Daughter? Or do you still wonder if your sins have disappointed Him too much? If your failures have disqualified you from His love? If you’ve come for forgiveness too many times? If your best is never good enough? Think on these words from God Himself:
Let’s talk definitions for a moment.
everlasting—adjective \ˌe-vər-ˈlas-tiŋ\ : lasting or enduring through all time : eternal
drawn—past participle of draw \ˈdrȯn, ˈdrän\ : to cause to move continuously toward : to cause to go in a certain direction (as by leading)
loving-kindness— noun \ˌlə-viŋ-ˈkīn(d)-nəs\ : tender and benevolent affection
You may find that the love of a young man can come and go. However, the Father’s love for you lasts through all time, through all of your falls, through all of your triumphs, through all of your disappointments, through all of your days. He is continuously causing you to move toward Him, in the direction of His presence, by His own leading. His love for you is tender. It benefits you. He longs to shower you with heavenly affection.
This is what you need before you begin dating… to be absolutely sure that God loves you every moment of every single day. As steady as your heart beats, His love is constant for you.
And here is my prayer for you:
May God grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in your innermost being and personality by the Holy Spirit Himself.
May Christ through your faith actually dwell, may He settle down, abide, and make His permanent home in your heart! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on His love.
May you have the power to apprehend and grasp the experience of His great love and to fully know what is the width and length and height and depth of His everlasting love.
May you really come to know tangibly through experience for yourself the love of Christ, which far surpasses a mere knowledge without experience.
May you be filled through all your being unto all the fullness of God.
May you have the richest measure of His Divine Presence, and become a woman wholly filled and flooded with God Himself!
By the action of His power that is at work within you, He is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that any of us dare ask or think. He answers infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams.
To Him be the glory throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen.
(based on Ephesians 3:16-21 AMP)
I’ll keep praying and praying….
love,
Mom

Jamie,
I love the Ephesians passage. Thank you for sharing it in the Amplified version. Light bulbs going off in my brain as I read it. So glad I took the time to read it this morning.
Cheli
Yes, Cheli, light bulbs for me too. And tears when I think about we live without so many of the things that Paul prays in that passage!
