Beloved,

So many things are out of your control. But they are not out of God’s control… they are in His hands.

If you were able to control everything in your life, surely you would be responsible for how it all turns outWhat an incredible amount of pressure to predict all of the variables of life and to protect all of the people involved. Are you sure that you want to be in control?

Better to let the Lord handle things.

He can see all of the things that you can’t.

He knows what you need, before you need it. He prepares things in advance for you, bringing multiple circumstances into alignment at just the right time.

He can see whether circumstances have value or not. You measure them by comfort level, but He measures them by their potential to bring you closer to Him and to transform your life.

Think about that beautiful moment a while back… when you were blessed beyond measure, when you nearly burst out of your skin because of the way everything came together. That moment was not orchestrated by you, was it? It was out of your control; it was in His hands, and you were supremely blessed.

Trust Him, Beloved. He has you in His hands. He knows all of your circumstances. The dark ones… they will bring the most glory when it’s all said and done. Don’t give up before you see the ending He has planned.

It’s a good one.

Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. Psalm 37:24

In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. (Our highs and lows are in His hand.) Psalm 95:4

But I trust in you, Lord. I say, “You are my God. My times are in Your hands…” Psalm 31:14-15a

Blessings,

Hi friend,

It’s been a while since I posted anything. Like you, I have been trying to hang on to Jesus despite all the twists and turns of life.

In mid-January, I participated in a corporate fast with my church and the Lord made it clear that He wanted me to go back to school and complete my bachelor’s degree. He meant immediately! I started community college classes the first week of February.

Can we normalize course corrections in life? It’s never a straight shot toward a single calling or purpose for us. The delays and detours shape us and show us what we couldn’t see when our eyes were fixed on the end goal.

But hear this—we don’t have to reinvent ourselves or our calling with every course correction. How many times have I interpreted a change in direction as, “Oh, this is my calling. This is what God wants me to do forever and ever, amen.”

I am learning to let go of one long, specific calling and embrace the seasonal callings God has orchestrated for me. In the meantime, I’ve been grieving the loss of what I thought my calling was. I thought God was leading me into full-time writing and authoring more books, but clearly not right now.

I want to hold very loosely to the things of this world, which include ministry and callings. How do I know they are temporal? There are no writers, Bible teachers, or ministry leaders in heaven. Only worshipers and children of God. That is our long-term calling. The rest is seasonal work, my friends.

Enjoy your seasonal callings with gratitude and learn what you can— before the next course correction. If you relax, the whiplash isn’t so bad!
