be commissioned

I was reading from Joshua this morning, and the words leaped off the page into my heart. I clearly heard the Lord commissioning me for this year of homeschooling. We started on this last Tuesday with a fantastic day, and each day following was a little less wonderful. 🙂

As I gear up for week two, I am much more aware of how mentally and emotionally demanding homeschooling is!  Without the excitement of week one, I am driven back to the feet of the Lord to ask for every ounce of strength, insight, and stamina that I will need for this week.

So, homeschooling friends, hear now the (cleverly adapted) Word of the Lord and be commissioned for the great calling you are prepared to undertake:

Now then, homeschooling moms and your children, get ready to cross from summer into the land I am about to give to you. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised those who went before you. Your territory will extend from the desert of record keeping, from the great river of math, to all the literature, spelling and grammar country, to the sea of science and history. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with those who schooled before you, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these children to inherit the promises I swore to their spiritual ancestors.

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the guidance My Holy Spirit will give you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep My Word always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of the challenges that lay ahead; do not be discouraged, for the I am the Lord your God and I will be with you wherever you go.
