not a coincidence

I think God is trying to tell me something.

I was online researching the meaning of a word the other night, and I was directed to that word’s occurrence in Genesis 49:25.  I didn’t get what I was looking for in my research attempt…feeling a little bit like I’d hit the wall.  Where to go now? I decided to sleep on it.

The next morning, I got on the treadmill and began the daily bible reading that my pastor recommended for 2009.  The pre-assigned reading for the day included Genesis 49.  The very chapter I was looking at the night before.  Hmmmm… what does this mean, Lord?  I pushed my pregnant body to finish my 30 minutes of walking and stepped off with no clarity.

That night, I climbed into bed to do a little reading before my hubby and I were scheduled to watch the re-broadcast of the presidential inaugural speech. (We missed the live speech while at the disgnostic center for an ultrasound). I pulled out my daily devotional book, and the day’s verse was no doubt Genesis 49:24-25.  Coincidence?  A triple coincidence??? Not in God’s economy.

I read on through the devotional, hoping for a clue.  I went back to the passage and read it top to bottom.  God is trying to talk to me, but I am not sure what the message is.  I am going to keep pressing in to Him until I get it.  I need to get it.  I need to hear from Him.

Anyone else out there longing to hear from Him?

  1. Hi Jamie,

I’m really happy for you and the wonderful news you received. Regarding Genesis 49, I read it and reread 24-25. This is Jacob’s final blessing to his son Joseph, I had a side note reference written in my scriptures that reads:

“Wherefore, Joseph truly saw our day. And he obtained a promise of the Lord, that out of the fruit of his loins the Lord God would raise up a righteous branch unto the house of Israel; not the Messiah, but a branch which was to be broken off, nevertheless, to be remembered in the covenants of the Lord that the Messiah should be made manifest unto them in the latter days, in the spirit of power, unto the bringing of them out of darkness unto light-yea, out of hidden darkness and out of captivity unto freedom.”

Verse 25 says all the blessings that are promised to Joseph and his lineage and to all of us. Our God will always help us, he will send us blessings of heaven, blessings of the deep, blessings of the breast and blessings of the womb( to be able to multiply and replenish the earth)

I enjoy reading the scriptures, it brings me much peace in my life, thank you for your beautiful comments and inspiration. Debbie

  2. Jaime,
I can feel the grace of which you were inspired of the Lord to begin this blog. Not going into detail but it is of the Holy Spirit and His love for you and all those that will become a part of this blog that His will and His plans will be revealed. I am in the coveted 🙂 position of having no idea of when or where or how or even why God will do what He plans to do. This puts me in dire need of staying in His presence, going deeper in His word, and trusting Him for every single step I take…literally. Am I comfortable, no… I wanted to go the route of trusting God for what I want. I thought my plans were going to be implemented. But I love your reply of: God, tell me what I want. I’m praying for wisdom, I’m praying for restoration in my family, I am seeking to know the heart of God more, how he plans to use me – His creation, for His glory. Thank you for sharing your personal journey and for the transparency of what you are experiencing in your relationship with God. You continue to be a blessing and a very poignant teacher for any who are willing to be taught.
Congratulations on your son. May he be tremendous blessing to your husband, and a soothing balm for your heart.
    Many continued blessings.
